“ASHES OF THE PAST”, a double album arose from the inspiration of the Iranian post-rock band CROWS IN THE RAIN, contains eleven compositions that can be compared to eleven rivers – they just flow. Just like rivers, they have the points in which we can drift calmly with the mild current, but also the points when we are overwhelmed by its power and have nothing to do but to give into it. Just like in nature, the transition between these bipolar points is gradual and smooth. We almost cannot feel the current of the sound as it slowly overtakes us, allowing us to drown in harmonies. As the river consists of a single stream, songs on “ASHES OF THE PAST” are usually based on one theme, to which numerous tributaries are flowing in. There are no sudden transitions from quiet to loud, instead, musical motives are slowly developed by adding more and more sounds, until creating a dense wall of sound in the end. As for me, such composition has a much bigger impact on the listener, as it requires lots of focus and attention. In this way also, “ASHES OF THE PAST” can be listened to in two ways: either as a background, filling the space, or with full focus of the listener, which can get him into meditative altered states and cut him away from reality. The album is significantly coherent which increases its meditative qualities. With a steady rhythm, cosmic sounds that are borderline psychedelic fill the album’s arid sonic corridors, though it doesn’t simply drift away and become background noise. These alien noises all merge together over drumming that is best described as curiously “tribal.” Each track, as expected, takes its time reaching its audience from distant galaxies. ASHES OF THE PAST takes the listener on a journey to nowhere. CROWS IN THE RAIN get their inspiration not only from post-rock. Actually, you can hear more ambient, shoegaze and even drone in their music. This eclecticism as well as skillful mixing of the genres defines the album and its uniqueness among others.

BIOGRAPHY OF THE BAND:
BIOGRAPHY OF THE BAND:
"Crows in the Rain" is a musical band founded by Masih and Hamed in the fall of 2014.
When Hamed and Masih first played together, they allowed all sounds to be recorded, and after a few hours, when a complete piece was prepared, crows were flying all around the house in the pouring rain. And they named the first piece "Crows in the Rain" which hasn't been released until today.
From November 2014 to the fall of 2015, four singles were released, respectively:
1. Forgotten Childhood
2. You Were There
3. Dreaming
4. The Tale of Creation within Her Being (Atman of Abhimata)
In February 2015, they released their first album called "You Are Dying in My Arms (The Frozen Last Gasps)" including 10 storied and interlocking tracks that complete each other. In the fall of 2016 Amirhosein was added to the group as a drummer. They were silent for a year to release their second album, which was the result of a joint travel experience, called "Little Girl and Lost Blossom", which included six interconnected pieces. After that, in the winter of 2016, Ashkan was added to the crows as a bassist.
"Crows in the Rain" decided to go on stage for the first time in 2017 and share their music live with their audience. They worked on their third album by the fall of 2017, and for the first time in December, before the official release of the album, they held their first concert in the Choral Concert Hall (Hamdelan) playing some of their third album's material for the first time. 24 days later, they had their second performance which can be named as the first and the largest official post-rock performance in Iran, at Azadi Tower.
The crows decided to release the third album in February 96 but did not happen due to some issues. In the meantime, they had a concert in the city of Shiraz in Kian Black Box Culture and Art Complex. When they went back to Tehran, they were invited to play in a conference in the 900 - member theater of Tehran University, where they played 2 tracks of their third album. They were also invited as a guest to be the opening act for Choral Music Festival. And in the end they staged their final exclusive performance again in Choral Institute in March 2017.
In 2017 the crows recorded their third album, and in the spring of 2018 the album was released as "Ashes of the Past" with Italian label "Hortus Conclusus Records". It included 11 storied pieces and was considered the second highest - length album of the group. in winter of 2018, They had a collabration with Radio Rango Podcast for " World's Best Radio Award - New York 2018 " and they could get finalist certificate among 29 countries
